Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries (CMCM) proudly welcomes Steve Edwards as Vice President of Business and Operations.

Steve Edwards will serve alongside Steve Shiflet in the business department of CMCM, learning from Shiftlet as he moves into retirement within the next year.

“After having the strong and steady influence of Steve Shiflet for so many years, we were hopeful that we could recruit somebody who would be sincere, capable and committed to continuing the long and steady tradition of fiduciaries on a high level. Steve Edwards brings to Connie Maxwell a breadth of experience and knowledge that will continue to ensure we stay financially strong and viable to minister to our children in Jesus’ name,” stated President Danny Nicholson.

Edwards comes to Connie Maxwell with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from Wofford College and an MBA in Management and Strategy from Western Governors University.

Edwards previously worked with President Danny Nicholson at Coker College in 1990, which propelled him into a career in higher education for over 20 years.

He later served for Patrick Henry Family Services, an orphanage for boys and an organization supporting hurting children and families in the Lynchburg, Va., area. His role in this ministry gave him a heart for children from hard places.

After moving back to his hometown of Darlington, S.C., he worked in a local government and small faith-based free clinic before working as Chief Finance and Operations Officer at a state-wide organization that provides foster care, behavioral health and preventative services.

God has led him to serve as Vice President of Business and Operations at CMCM. He began serving alongside Steve Shiftlet on Aug. 14.

Edwards said, “There is so much to be excited about joining the Connie Maxwell family, and we feel truly blessed to be here. Having the opportunity to work in this environment that puts God first and to use the gifts God has given me to benefit others is an awesome feeling.”

Edwards and his wife, Wynde, celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary at this year’s Connie Maxwell Corn Maze and Bluegrass Festival on Oct. 14. They have two children, O’Neill and Caleb, and a grandchild on the way. When Edwards is not crunching numbers, he’s training his Boykin Spaniels, Remi and Rocky.

Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries is grateful to have Edwards and his expertise on the team and looks forward to seeing how God uses him in making the children’s dreams a reality.
