GREENWOOD, SC (March 13, 2023) – Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries will welcome British author and speaker Simon Benn to Greenwood March 16th and 17th to speak on the topic of bullying.

As an adopted child himself and a victim of childhood bullying, Benn understands the hurt that can come from childhood trauma, and the extensive healing that often needs to take place. He has now dedicated himself to educating both adults and children in the areas of trauma healing and methods of preventing trauma from happening in the first place.  As an author and speaker, he works with children, parents, and professionals to do all he can to help children who need healing.

Remarking on the subject of bullying, Connie Maxwell President Danny Nicholson said “We’re going to keep working toward seeing hurting children find healing because we love them… but wouldn’t it be the right thing to do all we can to make sure they never get hurt in the first place? We could work ourselves out of job, which would be beautiful.”

Taking this proactive approach to healing and preventing childhood trauma, Nicholson has invited Benn to Greenwood, where he will speak with elementary school students in Greenwood Country School District 50 and 52.

Hosting Benn is part of Connie Maxwell’s larger strategic plan, A Decade of Dreams, which has a major emphasis on seeing Connie Maxwell become a national leader and educator in the world of trauma healing. Benn coming to speak is what Nicholson calls a “seed” in Connie Maxwell’s plan, preparing the groundwork for what lies ahead. “We want to be an educational force,” said Nicholson, “Sending people all over the Southeast and all over the nation to teach coaches, children, principals, nurses, and parents.”

Benn will speak at Lakeview and Pinecrest elementary schools on March 16, Rice and Woodfields elementary schools on March 17 and Ninety-Six Elementary on March 21. Benn will also speak on campus at Connie Maxwell to staff and students during his visit.
